Alen T300 Air Purifier Warning

Price: $299

SEE THE VIDEO BELOW...

OVERVIEW: My Warning: The Alen T300 Air Purifier is a very small air purifier (only 1-200 sq. ft.) for a very big price ($299) as sold in Target and at Amazon online. I would not recommend this air purifier. The replacement parts are also very expensive. But now I'll calm down and do my complete review and make some recommendations (Whew!).

I was surprised, amazed when I read the specifications on the Alen T300 air purifier which is referred to as a "Tower of Power" on Targets website. I like the technology they included but for the price you can easily find something twice as good with much lower maintenance. It is very, very profitable air purifier for everyone in the picture, except the consumer.

Small Size and Weight

The Alen T300 Air Purifier weighs in at only 12 lbs. and is 11 x 9 x 28. The small motor in it is the reason it weighs so little. A great thing when you carry it home from a store, not so good when you go to clean the house.

Expensive Replacement filters and Bulbs

A woman called me when her Alen T300 Air Purifier had the UV burn out after six months. The replacement filter costs $59. Now you'd be replacing the bulb in 9 months anyway, but the cost for a bulb was steep. She also had a problem getting the bulb out, as the harness that holds it had stripped screws. I discovered a review on Amazon that said the exact same thing.

[Hint; Someone suggested that Phillips makes a UV bulb that will work in this unit that costs only $15 yet is exactly the same. I cannot confirm this but it may be a possibility. I also do not know if it will affect the Warranty]

Stages of Purification

Now let's take a look at the filters and technology for cleaning the air. This Air Purifier utilizes 4 stages:

Stage 1 HEPA - to remove pollen and dust

Stage 2 Carbon - for removing odor

Stage 3 Ultraviolet - for killing germs and viruses

Stage 4 Negative Ions for healthier air and help killing mold

Pros and Cons

Pros

1 - Conveniently sold in stores

2 - Includes the 4 technologies I recommend most

Cons

1 - Only covers 1-300 square feet

2 - Expensive

3 - Expensive replacement filters

4 - Poor customer service (per Amazon reviews)

5 - Loud on low and high (36/60 Db)

Conclusion

The T300 Air Purifier in my opinion is an overpriced air purifier at $299 which only covers 150 square feet effectively. I like that includes HEPA, UV and Carbon however. The replacement filters are overpriced. The Lifetime Warranty to me is a deceitful - you have to but their filters every 6 months to maintain the warranty.
