Airsource 3000

I have an airsource 3000 which has been discontinued. It seemed to work but not sure of the technology it uses and what i should replace it with... no major issues... some cooking odors and hayfever and seasonal colds...

You have a great site and i would value your feedback and expertise.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

The AirSource 3000 - sold through Shaklee Distriibutors (for about $699, $599 for Distributors) uses a steady stream of negative ions, UV, and Titanium Dioxide plates to clean the air.

Negative ions, which I love, are great for removing some odors, smoke and making the air healthy. Because it goes out into the room hence the 3,000 square foot claim (which is a stretch).

The technolgies in the AirSource 3000 aren't nearly as good as HEPA for removing dust and pollen, and if these are your problems then I'd get a HEPA filter before this model. Even an inexpensive one. The stat sheets on the air source 3000 show that the particle removal is not very good.

The UV and Tio2 (they call it tri-metallic-catalyst, or three metals) are good for killing germs, bacteria and viruses. But this only happens within the machine which means it's only as good as the fan inside it. This can also produce a small amount of Ozone, not enough to be of concern.

I don't consider it a good value for the price or the technology, especially if allergies are part of the problem. For the cokking odors and cold prevention it would do a sufficient job.

I hope this feedback helps.

Breathe Well,

Mark

P.S. Thanks for the feedback!!
